GENERAL DUTIES
- Provides career counseling and assessment and provides comprehensive career services programs.
- Provides employment and career counseling to students; may provide services to alumni.
- Administers and interprets career and vocational assessment instruments.
- Prepares and facilities workshops on career development topics such as job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interviewing techniques.
- Develops and maintains relationships with employers that can lead to recruitment and hiring at the campus.
- Assists with planning and presenting career fairs, speakers, employer visits, and other events.
- Collaborates with faculty and student support service professions to offer specialized programs and activities.
- Trains and supervises interns and office staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Career Resources Counselor will administer John Jay Careers Online, the
department's virtual career center for job and internship postings, counseling schedules, event calendars and more. The Career Resources
Counselor will also administer the main department website and other career resources to ensure that the department's communications
strategies provide effective and efficient client service. Additionally, s/he will provide one-to-one direct advising service to students
and alumni, functioning as a career services generalist. Other responsibilities to include:
- Liaising with students and employers to ensure access to department's online resources.
- Assisting with the department's employer relations program; helping maintain recruiting relationships for job and internship opportunities including assisting students with preparation and planning.
- Assisting with day to day student, alumnae and employer communication, outreach and supporting the maintenance of these essential relationships.
- Collecting and analyzing assessment data pertinent to counseling, teaching, and retention of students participating in targeted career planning programs and services for regular reporting.
- Outreach and marketing events and opportunities to students, faculty, and alumni through sending emails, producing posters and flyers, and other engagement strategies.
- Working one evening per week serving evening students and alumni. Occasional weekend and evening work required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant
experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or related degree preferred.
- At least two years experience in a college career services setting.
- Prior experience working with the Career Services Management Database Symplicity/NACElink.
- Interest in social media outreach - Background working with an urban, commuter college student population.
$42,873 - $55,782
